Laura’s hope for a fresh start
Laura was struggling. She had a flat. But when her sister died there, she found it hard to heal and her mental health suffered.
Laura’s physical health made stairs difficult, but her flat was on the second floor.
She had battled addiction in the past, and now clean, she worked hard to stay that way. But it was difficult to live so close to old friends who still struggled.
When Laura was referred to Aberdeen Cyrenians’ housing support service, her support worker arranged for her housing to be assessed, and secured her a chance to move.
Laura is delighted with her new flat on the ground floor. Her support worker helped her with the move and offered her furnishings to make it feel comfortable and homely.
“Sometimes, it can feel like my world is falling to bits but when the staff walk in the door, it disappears. I feel much more positive now and feel like I can start to heal and move forward again”
